Floorplan Viewer Features
Basic Functionality
Header
The header contains several high-level tools. These are
- The collapse toggle - collapses the tool sidebar.
- The plan label - displays the current building and floor.
- Refresh plan button (Admin only) - pushes the floor plan into the update queue to be re-processed.
- Print - save the floor plan as a PDF or print it out. This prints the plan and all labels at the current zoom level.
- Fullscreen toggle - click to enter and exit fullscreen view.
Display Tab
This is where you can adjust the plan you are viewing (1) and the overall plan rotation (2).
Tools Tab
Measure Tool
You can obtain real-world distance measurements from the floor plan by using the measure tool. Simply zoom to your desired view, select the measure tool, and click on two points on the map to draw a line between them. The measure tool will indicate the distance between these points. To restore normal click behavior, i.e., selecting individual rooms, you must unselect the measure tool.
Color Tool
The color tool allows you to visualize the distribution of the space for the given floor. We currently support coloring by room use, department, and classroom utilization. Note that class utilization will not produce any coloring for non-academic space.
Label Tool
STARS floor plans support a variety of labels, all of which are toggleable from the Label Tool. The most interesting of these is the occupants label, which displays a photo of the room occupant if they are the sole occupant of that space, and otherwise shows the number of occupants that room has. This is especially useful when combined with other tools, such as workstation management or room occupant management.
Note: When adjusting the label size, labels may appear off-center. This is a natural result of scaling, and they will return to the center when you next zoom on the floor plan.
Layers Tab
Asset Mapping
Click the asset button to toggle that asset layer on/off in the floor plan. Note that you can select multiple asset types to display simultaneously. Whenever a network asset layer is selected, the telecom rooms are displayed. You can click on each individual asset icon to get more information about that particular asset, which will vary based on its type.
To add an asset of the selected type, click the grey Plus button, and you will be prompted to place your new asset on the map before filling out its metadata. Once you are done, click the green check at the top of the form to save the asset. Placing an asset inside a room will tie that asset to that room, but you can also place the asset outside of any room, which will tie it to the building instead.
Furniture Layer
Some floor plans feature an additional furniture layer, which you can toggle on and off to view a more detailed representation of the space. Please note that these layers are often large and may take a while to load.
Advanced Features
Room Occupants
Selecting a room displays the room information panel, which provides high-level room properties, including use and area. For more detailed information, use the Room Detail button (2) to visit the detail page for that room. This panel is also where you can view and manage occupants (1).
Managing Occupants
You can only manage room occupants if you are a SPIN (https://survey.facilities.ufl.edu/) authorizer or certifier for the department associated with that room.
Each room occupant has a form detailing their occupancy. Each of these forms is saved individually by clicking the green check mark next to the occupant box. You can add a new occupant by clicking the green Add Occupant button at the bottom of the occupants list when editing. To remove an occupant from a room, you must specify an occupancy end date for them. If that end date is less than the current date, they will be removed from the room. Lastly, you can specify an occupant's percentage (3), and lock it (4) to preserve it in the case of future personnel changes (METRICS Users Only).
Occupancy information comes from SPIN (https://survey.facilities.ufl.edu/) data. Occupancy start and end dates are defined within the context of survey terms, which should be considered if you want your changes to take effect in the current survey.
Workstation Occupants
Once you have finished editing occupants, you can assign them to a workstation. This can be done by pulling up the room panel and dragging your occupant to their desired workstation. To drag an occupant, use the drag handle (1) at the right corner of each occupant bubble. You can drop the occupant directly into the workstation circle on the map, or into the drop area of a specific workstation you have open in the workstation asset panel. Dropping the occupant will automatically save them to that workstation. To remove them, you must do so through the workstation asset panel.
A single workstation can accommodate multiple occupants, as in the case of a "hot desk."
Network Assets
Network assets include wallplates and emergency speakers. Some of these assets, such as wall plates, can be rotated. You can add comments and an FTID (required) to these assets. For wall plates, we will also retrieve the port data associated with the FTID in that room.
AEDs
You can add AEDs to the map just like any other asset point. When adding an AED point, ensure that you have updated the data in COR (https://apps.ehs.ufl.edu/cor) to match the room where you intend to place the point. You will only be able to place AEDs that are already assigned to that room. If you do not have access to COR, or you are missing access for a specific department, please submit a BATS ticket so we can update your roles.
Feedback
If you encounter a bug or have a suggestion to improve functionality, we would be happy to hear it! Additionally, if your department is interested in tracking a specific type of asset, it would be our pleasure to add it to our ever-growing list. The best way to reach our development team is to submit a BATS ticket.
